Twin Vee qualifies as one of the rolled-edge catamaranran
manufacturers with quality good enough to account
for the company’s staying power. Based in Port
St. Lucie, Florida, Twin Vee has, until now, offered
only smaller skiffs. This 26-footer marks the company’s
entry into the big-boat market. The 26 (like its
new 22-foot sibling) features a large, airy cabin
with a true queen-sized berth, freshwater sink,
portable head and mammoth storage spaces. As you
might expect from a successful catamaran line, the
Twin Vee provides superb head-sea handling ability.
The hand-laminated, 24-ounce woven, roving fiberglass
and polyester resins combined with a foam-filled
hull make this Twin Vee the only unsinkableable,
self-bailing catamaran on the market in this size
range. In fact, they’re the only ones backed
with a lifetime hull warranty.
The Twin Vee 26 Weekender
comes with a maximum power rating of twin 150-hp
outboards considerably less than the max power rating
on a comparable monohull. However, you’ll
find she runs extremely well with more conservative
power. You can run the company demo boat with a pair
of Suzuki 115-hp four-strokes at this month’s
Miami Boat Show. If you compare prices to other 26-foot
outboard boats, expect the Twin Vee to hit your purse
far more gently than most. But if you really want
to be impressed, arrange a test drive on one preferably
on a snotty day when you normally wouldn’t
want to go boating. That’s when your purchase
decision will likely be made for you. |
